This update concerns the list of high-risk third countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Newly added to the list<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission has decided to classify the following countries as high-risk third countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Algeria<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Angola<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>C\u00f4te d'Ivoire<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kenya<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Laos<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lebanon<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Monaco<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Namibia<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nepal<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Venezuela<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Removed from the list<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission reviewed the progress made by certain countries in addressing the strategic deficiencies in their AML\/CFT regimes. These countries had already been removed from the FATF list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring.\nBased on this, the Commission concluded that these countries no longer have strategic deficiencies:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Barbados<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gibraltar<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jamaica<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Panama<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Philippines<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Senegal<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Uganda<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>United Arab Emirates<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entry into force<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This regulation enters into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The regulation was published on 16 July 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Current list of high-risk third countries<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently 27 countries on the EU list of high-risk third countries. Obliged entities must take these changes into account when conducting risk assessments and in their internal AML and KYC procedures.
